In order to expand the market and meet customer's different demands, recently, Remelting Steel Research Institute of Xingtai steel successfully trial-produced 325 mm x 280 mm H13 big remelting square ingot of hot-work die steel on the base of the production super-long H13 small square which filling the domestic blank on last year. So far, the company can produce Ф 800 mm round ingot, Ф 600 mm round ingot and 600 mm x 160 mm small square ingot , 325 mm x 280 mm big square ingot of H13. The total of four specifications can meet the market demand for different specifications module.

H13 belongs to hot-work die steel. The grade 4Cr5MoSiV1 is mainly used for forging die manufacturing on large impact load, hot extrusion die, forging die, aluminum, copper and its alloy die-casting mould. The alloy content of H13 is very high. The improper control on electroslag remelting process parameters can cause the solidified structure bulky, dendritic segregation severity and severe banded structure after forging which will affect the service life of the mold.

In order to reduce the risk of trial production to a great extent, the company remelting steel institute organize technicians and operators for production process and research the quality and process problems that may be met in the production. The institute formulated the detailed plans in advance. In the manufacture process, the technical personnel follow-up all the process and make timely adjustment of test parameters to produce 325 mm×280 mm of H13 big remelting square ingot.

The successfully trial-producing of H13 electroslag big remelting square ingot , marked developing in the direction of specifications and varietiesis and laying the solid foundation on expand the market of remelting steel.
